Friendships Matter
Friendships matter, those you spend time with matters, and people you associate on a continual basis matters. It's about being with the people who God wants you to be with in this season and time in your life. Well meaning people, nice people, kind people, moral people, and those professed to be a Christian are not all assigned to you.
Connect with those who are aligned with what God has called you to do. It requires navigational discernment which is a gift from God and determination to be disciplined enough to walk your road alone with Christ Jesus most of your life when necessary. Fellowship is vital to staying grounded, make the most of that time by building relationships that God wants in your life. And you know who they are! Staying focused and intentional about building those types of relationships in your life requires keen awareness, discipline, and effort. You have to say no and turn some people down. Stay on the path God has for you.
Allow God to bring the right people in your life and prune out the ones that really don't belong. The ones that He prunes out are those that don't have your best interest at heart. Fake Friends and Fake Associations be gone in the name of Jesus! It's a little hard to endure because you prefer to be accepted by everyone. However, we must remember we are not called to everyone but we are called to someone. Find those ones and stick with them!
Our aim is to please God in all that we do. Including relationships that work for His purposes. Proverbs 13:20 says it like this in The Message Bible Version: Become wise by walking with the wise; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces. Evaluate the people in your life and inner circle. Pray and ask God to move you quickly towards the friends and connections He desires to have in your life. Pray and ask God to quickly move those out of your life that don't belong with you. He will answer your prayers!
Below is one of the many confessions in my devotional book Decrees, Declares & Prayers 2nd Edition for you to speak over your own life today.
I decree, declare, and pray that I am wise and understanding, I give no place to the devil in my relationships. No weapon formed against me shall prosper in the name of Jesus I pray.
